Carved Wooden Teddy Bears

Post  bigsally on Sat Jan 12, 2008 5:16 pm

Some years ago I was walking in Surrey, probably somewhere south of the A25 near Shere, Gomshall etc, and I came across a quiet lane or bridleway where, in the middle of nowhere, there was a string of carved wooden Teddy Bears.
Someone had cut down some trees leaving stumps about 3-4 feet high and then, presumably with the same chain-saw, had shaped them into tall thin teddy bears.
They were amazing, but I've totally forgotten where they were.
Please! Does anyone know? I would love to take my grandchildren to see them

Teddy Bears ...

I've seen them too. Could be 10 years ago now. I'm pretty sure it was a walk out of one of the books like "Walks to Surrey Pubs". Don't think there was any mention of the bears in the book though. Often wish I'd made a note where they were. It would be worth doing the walk just to see them again. Very Happy
